success!

Well, I've managed to sign in to the blog, so as far as I'm concerned it's working perfectly! Back in Atlanta, I'll be thinking lots about ideas for our wonderful cabin.

The Cabin - the reason for this blog

This cabin belongs to us all - several families linked together by love, by ancestory, by stories, by plans for the future and memories of the past. There are stories of babies now grown and anticipation of babies still unborn. This cabin belongs to us all, so we share conversations of a damp crawlspace, of overwhelming snow loads which lead to massive spring run-offs, mice and squirrels who crave a warm home for the winter, of puffballs and boletus, and of car-eating potholes in the road. We try to find a way to keep it going against the odds of a Colorado winter at 10,000 feet and just a little money.

We see this blog as a way for us to share our ideas about the cabin, photos of trips taken, and lists of what needs to be brought up by the next visitors. It can contain information as mundaine as that the sugar is all used up, and as important as how we might upgrade the cooking facilities, or which part of this far-flung group of related families wants in and which part wants out.

There's a journal at the cabin which we began years ago, some of us adding to it trip by trip, but it is only accessible if you happen to be sitting up at the cabin, perhaps out on the deck in a blue and white folding chair, or inside sitting on the lumpy black leather seat of Grandma's rocking chair, reading by kerosene lamplight. Our hope is that this blog can open up the story and the upkeep of the cabin to all who care. Welcome!
